I blinked....

...and all of a sudden he grew up...

He is so good....He humored me enough to step out on the balcony for a few Birthday shots...

He has grown into an awesome young man, all 17 years of him...

...he is my serious one.  My planner.  My 1st born through and through...

He is planning on going into ministry, and I couldn't be happier for him.
For all who know him, they know this is exactly what he was made for.

He didn't want to do anything on his big day,
he wanted to sleep in uninterupted,
eat nachos,
and Skype with a very special young lady back home.

He asked for 'not a chinese cake'
LOL
And I am SO proud of myself for making an icecream cake.
With Miss G's help & Darrah's encouragement

He had to blow out the candles VERY FAST,
Ice Cream cake + Tropical weather = Messy!

Homemade cards all around...
Lukai's required some explaination,
I think there was blood splatter and an explosion involved...

Big brother approved!

Kole was our travel mate when we adopted Ping,
they are so sweet together...

One thing that is so important in our family,
that we strive for...

...is that we are eachother's 'safe place'
No teasing, no sibling bulling...
You'll often hear me saying,
"Friends come and friends go, a few are there for a lifetime....
but your brothers and sister are there forever.
The best gift you can give yourself is to make friends with eachother..."

And the results over the years have been beautiful...

"Give each other a hug" I said....geez.... *eyeroll*

Miss G's card was SO Kole....
(see below)

This is it,
his last year at home...

...so not ready

  1. Beautiful post and what special birthday memories for all of you! As moms we are NEVER ready, but the point is that he is because you did your job as a mom! Three of ours are married and on their own and I won't say that I don't miss having them all home because I do, but I can say that the next chapter (s) in life is also beautiful and I wouldn't really want to go back. Seeing your children become the adults and servants of God that He intended is a beautiful thing. The puzzle pieces come together and you can see just why God gave them all their talents, etc. in order to become what He has planned!
