So, I'm not saying that I'm panic-ing about her heading to China. No, I'm sure that will be fine. And I'm sure that me and the other kiddies will be *just* fine here waiting for them to come home. BUT, just in-case anyone IS bored, and you know, cooking extra Spaghetti, Lasagna, Chinese food, etc... I'm not so proud as to turn down some help in the home cooking department.
But I'm sure you didn't come here JUST to help make me a meal... I mean, you COULD have come here just to make me a meal, that would be OK. I mean, I wouldn't mind. Anyway...
So the Wife has been packing finally ... and what was to be an easy packing chore (as she is only bringing 3 outfits) has turned into a rather difficult task. And no, it is not for any one reason... really... its many reasons. But her packing HER suit case now involves having a separate traveler from Vancouver help carry some of the "stuff" she is bringing...
See, one of the first problems she had was that she had packed a smaller suit case, then she took that suit case, and packed it in a larger suit case. Clever huh? Then she could unpack the suit cases in China and have a whole extra empty one for the trip back. However, she quickly realized that the 1 suit case inside another suit case just didn't give her enough room to carry all her luggage. So, she had to unpack EVERYTHING and start over. This may and or may not have lead to crying. There was crying when she ran out of bandaids to pack... its a long story... never mind.

Oh, getting back to my ramblings... did you catch that? 3 outfits was all she was going to pack right? Well, how on earth could 3 outfits fill two huge (beautiful and new) luggage sets (lacking urine covered exteriors)? This is where it gets tricky.
How can I explain this in the most convoluted and round about way possible?
- Her 3 outfits will no longer fit in her 2 huge suit cases because of someone's asthma. But even that isn't quite right.
- Her 3 outfits will no longer fit in her 2 huge suit cases because we had to pack up a years worth of the asthma medicine. Mmmmmm... no, not clear enough yet.
- Her 3 outfits will no longer fit in her 2 huge suit cases because we had to pack up a years worth of the asthma medicine for an entire orphanage in Beijing.
- Her 3 outfits will no longer fit in her 2 huge suit cases because we had to pack up a years worth of the strangers asthma medicine for an entire orphanage in Beijing, because this medicine is very hard to come by in China.
- Her 3 outfits will no longer fit in her 2 huge suit cases because we had to pack up a years worth of the asthma medicine for an entire orphanage in Beijing, because this medicine is very hard to come by in China, and *some one* decided that it would be a great idea to help out and sent us much more money than we were expecting.

Aaaaah, well THERE is the crux of it all! It is YOUR fault! That's right. The least you could do to make up for all the trouble you caused is to bring me some meals... :-)
All y'all who donated money for the high chairs, and medicines have gone above and beyond the call of duty! We've been able to collect enough money for the 15 high chairs, the asthma medicine and even some extra for the baby formula (which we had to get shipped to Vancouver to have another person carry it to China since we are outta suitcases)!!!
So THANK YOU all who have helped make this possible! I will try to post pictures of it all when I get the pictures from the mules... er, women delivering the goods.
I have been so out of contact with you two since we last saw you. I'm sorry! I woke up late night and realized that the time must be near only to see it's tomorrow right?
ReplyDeleteWill Roberta be able to post from China or will you keep us updated?
Please give her my best, enjoy as much as possible and return home safely with your little boy!
That is AWESOME! I hope R makes it safe through Ikea. Without buying stuff for herself :)
ReplyDeleteLucky it easy to get laundry done in China.
Good luck 2 next two weeks. Sadly we are oceans apart, otherwise I would be happy to bring over some take away (I am not a very good cook)
A casserole is in the mail...jk. Praying for her trip, etc. So glad it has finally come!

Ah well, R will look fab no matter what. And BigD - he's a boy - for him, it'll be a holiday just because he won't have to change. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry Adrian, living on the west coast will prevent us from dropping off some home cooked meals for you and the kids. You will be stuck taking the kids for a dirty bird supper!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Roberta! I will be thinking of you everyday and sending positive thoughts. I can't believe it was only one year ago that we were in Taiyuan. Make sure to pack a warm jacket!
